What is CAE?
CAE stands for Certificate in Advanced English and represents level C1 of QCER.
Why take CAE?
This certificate attests an advanced linguistic knowledge useful in both social and professional situations. Many academic institutions require CAE as an entrance requirement for their courses and programmes. It is also widely recognised in the professional world, especially since the advent of globalisation.
What is the exam like?
The exam is divided into four parts: Reading and Use of English, Writing, Listening and Speaking.
The written tests have a total duration of more or less 4 hours. The oral test could take place in a different day from the written part of the exam and it lasts approximately 17 minutes. All papers are sent to Cambridge for marking and assessment. The oral test is conducted by two examiners accredited by Cambridge English. After the exam the candidate will receive a certificate with his results in each part of the exam.
