What is FCE?

FCE stands for First Certificate in English and it represents level B2 of QCER.

Why take FCE?

While preparing for this exam, you will develop language skills, you will be able to construct arguments and use appropriate communication styles for a variety of situations. FCE assures the sufficient proficiency in English to work in various domains. This exam also prepares candidates for higher-level exams, such as CAE (Certificate in Advanced English) and CPE (Certificate of Proficiency in English).

What is the exam like?

The exam is divided into four parts: Reading and Use of English, Writing, Listening and Speaking. The written tests have a duration of more or less 3 and a half hours. The oral test could take place in a different day from the written part of the exam and it lasts approximately 15 minutes. All papers are sent to Cambridge for marking and assessment. Oral tests are conducted by two examiners accredited by Cambridge English. After the exam the candidate will receive a certificate with his results in each part of the exam.
