Introduction

YLE is the acronym for Young Learners English and represent the first fundamental step in the English language learning process. The Cambridge YLE exams consist of of three levels: Starters, Movers and Flyers.

Why take YLE?

The Cambridge YLE exams provide a sound basis for the study of English and give kids the opportunity to become familiar with the world of Cambridge exams. The aims of the tests are:

• sample relevant and meaningful language use
• measure accurately and fairly
• present a positive first impression of international exams
• promote effective learning and teaching
• encourage future learning and teaching

What is the exam like?

The three levels form a bridge to take children learning English as second language from Beginners to Waystage level (A2). The exams have three papers for each level: listening, reading and writing, speaking. All papers are sent to Cambridge for marking and assessment. Two examiners accredited by Cambridge ESOL conduct the oral.On passing the tests you will receive a certificate awarded by the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations and a statement of results, showing how you performed in the individual papers.

How do I prepare for it?

IH Palermo students are prepared for YLE exams during tehir lessons. Students from schools can study at school.
